My finals in IWWF Cable Wakeboard Worlds

My aim was to get at least to the finals. Well I did it!
In finals I got 6th place (of 8 riders)!

Today's finals I was riding 1st run quite okay until the last kicker again.))
My runs:
  • 1st run I did: Bs360, Switch 270 lipslide 180 out, s-bend, frontflip with indy, backroll to revert, transfer to boardslide and 270 out to blind, tantrum (which I fell)
  • 2nd run I fell already on the first kicker and couldn't try any air-tricks to blind.
When I fell on the first kicker (2nd run) and was walking back to starting place I was quite disappointed, but it went over quite fast. Only why I was disappointed was that I couldn't show what I really can.))

Winner did toeside railey, backmob, blind judge, backroll etc... ts fr 360 and hs bs 360 from kickers and sliders something really well.
Anyway tricks which are doable and tricks which with I have worked also. I wasn't ready to make some of these yet, at least not in this cable.
Here are the results from yesterday and today:

IWWF Worlds: My Qualifying, LCQ and results of boys and girls

My qualifying runs were already yesterday 6th of November and didn't go so well.
The First run I fell on the first kicker and I had little bit pressure for 2nd run. It went better, but not enough to get straight to final.
Today 7th of November was LCQ (last chance qualifying), my run was already better and I won this LCQ...
... so I will ride on Friday IWWF World Championships finals!!!

My run was really basic and I even still fell down on the last kicker, but I must to tell it's not so easy to ride in World Championships.)))
I know that many guys are thinking now at home, they could make the same simple run or better, but why they are not here making it?
I didn't get used to this cable yet, like I wrote 3 days more riding and my run would be something else. All my blind tricks etc... I wasn't ready to make those yet and because of some fallings I hadn't chance to risk anything.
Those who have been in competitions know, that you can't ride almost at all, it's mostly just waiting and waiting and then just one moment you must to show all your skills.
Yeah pro-riders can do it! I can't so well.)))
Thanks to Alexander Gamayunov for this video clip; It's my run, check it!

LCQ = Last Chance Qualification results

Start list of finals!
I feel myself really old; I'm the oldest in Masters category!!??

Today was also finals of Boys and Girls and I must to tell that riding is really high level.
I spotted already from training sessions Junior girl Sanne Meijer (check my earlier update), she was amazing and won girls. She knew already before last run that she is the winner, anyway she made still better run and was really overwhelming.
Winner of boys Agos Hegedus from Hungary also knew that he is the winner before his last run.
Here are a few pictures from ceremony:

IWWF World Championships: Training days and opening ceremony

In my second day we had training 1,5 hours/group. Every group had 25 riders.
Quite crowded, but end of the session was possible to ride also so, that one empty carrier after every rider.
Anyway I wanted to ride more, but no chance what is very understandable; there are more than 200 riders who want the same.))
For sure should arrive earlier... 3 training days more would be perfect.
More than 30 countries presented, I made my part to get wakeboarding to Olympics. More countries participating, more chance to get Olympics.
Finland is IN!
I couldn't shoot photos of my training, so here are some Russian riders (for me like team members)
Swedish team in the house
Me and Security
Korean rider San Im is only 14 years old.
Going to ride in open men category and has all chances to get podium.
I saw 1080 from kicker, Backmob5, S-mob5, 315 etc...
Junior girl Sanne Meijer from Holland
I saw during one run: Vulcan, inside backmob, railey, backroll to blind!!!
Junior men Tommy Swaan always big air!
Team captain meeting in the evening.
I got a chance to be standard-bearer of Finnish team))
Russia, Finland and Croatia
There was really hot and some of Germany team members went to swim. I guess Frederic von Osten furthest.
Team Slovakia
...lot of other teams
Some prize-giving 2010 and 2011 best riders from the right Nick Davies, Sophia Maria Reimers, Denise De Haan and captain of Germany receive prize instead of Steffen Vollert who wasn't there.
Then beautiful ethnic dance performance...

...with so light "angel" jumping. Comments around me were OMG...

Until the climax!
After all must to say thanks and positive feedback for organizers etc... Well organized start of games!
WE ARE READY FOR OLYMPICS!

Finally here! Deca Wakepark in Clark (Manila)

I got here! Here I am in Clark after long traveling.

Between these pictures are one week and some kilometers.)))

Finland-China-Manila
Always hanging around with "Over-sized Baggage"

Finally here!
Cable is new and obtacles as well (Rixen), anyway my first training I din't like so a lot.
Little bit lower cable as I used to, but that is not the problem. Must only used to it I think.
My problem was that I didn't see surface of water well. Water is brown after digging the lake and maybe this is a reason and landing were not so clean. Well 1 month break in riding doesn't make it better also I think.
Let's see still more training sessions and all will be okay.)))

IWWF CableWakeboard World Championships 2012 Manila

Because I'm traveling in Asia, I'm more than 30 years old (Masters Category) and I got a place in Finnish National team, I have chance to participate to World Championships!

Truth is that Finland has not team, so it was quite easy to get place in a team, also I don't shame so much my level, because I can ride in Masters.

Anyway 2nd -11th of November 2012 I will be in World Championships Manila Philippines!!
Check the competition page and entered riders, there I am))):

Season Closing in St. Petersburg Russia

I came back from Bangkok for a moment and joined “Just a Cable” season closing party. It was of course in only place where it can be; 360° BAR (Ligovskiy 39).
I visited also in SunPark (our wake park), what was still running. All these were already in the last weekend.
Water was about 11C° and air 11C° as well!!

After Thailand I didn’t want to close my season at all, my season is continuing, but I didn’t ride in SPb, I even have not anymore wetsuit; somebody put my 2 years old, lot of used, smelling wetsuit to rubbish.)))
Some pics from party:

360 Riders Bar was almost full!

Anna and Sakara with prizes...

Anna was closing her season 2012 maybe already 3rd or 4th time... well she picked up prizes more than anybody else.))

We had really great time with balance boards...

We saw amazing tricks....

...as long as "Killjoy Ilya" took our toys away!(((

Me, Anna and Vera

My Finnish ex-colleagues, now just friends

Great reverse cable operator of Miami Park!

One of organizers: Kirill Karnov

Even that is was season closing I got invitation to ride in SunPark next day. I went to there, but only to shoot photos.

Autumn colors are now really beautiful and guys who are still riding are really brave!

Calendar October 2012

Every month I'll publish new page for 2012 calendar. Save it, print it and tape to your wall! ;-)))))

I am totally late! It's already 4th of October!
This is only explanation, but I changed my computer and some my software's were missing and I couldn't make this October in time.
Well here it is. It's of course from ThaiWakePark, where I just spent couple weeks and will spend a large part of the winter.
I like this picture, it's possible to see; Air is quite big!
Check the distance to starting place, from where I started to fly and height.
