Season opening in St. Petersburg (snowboard)

I didn't close my wakeboard season and I will not; it just continues and continues, well not indeed in Russia or Finland.
Here in St. Petersburg where I'm shortly staying is possible already to snowboard!!

Season started here already 2nd of November in Золотая Долина (Golden Valley), when I was still in Philippines.
It's really strange to come from Philippines to this kind of conditions, I have still jet lag and cold makes my body feels pain.))
Anyway I had possible to open snowboard season, what else you can do in this kind of weather?
Here was frosty period and they made snow by snow guns, it looks so strange, there is not snow around at all, but one slope is snowy!!
Unfortunately frosty period was over and now it's raining or fog and + Celsius degrees.
One slope is working, but waiting more winter weather!

Anyway it's fresh air and some fun outdoors!!
Snow wasn't so bad, what I expected.

Snowboard season almost over!

The last weekend we had really good weather to close snowboard season in St. Petersburg. (slopes are actually 100km to north from St.P.)
Slopes are still open and maybe I will close the season still second time on 1st of May (Walpurgis day, in Finnish = Vappu).

Yes I know quite "nepi nepi", but really fun!!        ("nepi nepi" = mini jump)

One very strong sign of spring and summer are also swimming rings, these people closed the season this way.

Notice how good shape slopes still are! At night -5°C and daytime in sunshine +15°C  !

Aqua Show!!

Every year they organize this Aqua Show.
It is closing of season happening, even that slopes are here still open about 2 weeks.
They dug a pool to snow, built a kicker and whoever can participate to this costume party.
This year weather wasn't so good, it was even raining in the beginning, but feeling was high (and wet)!

Absolutely the most famous trick was backflip... mostly without control!



People who saw this picture were telling: "Oh Tolja's costume was vagina!"
I don't know... maybe somebody who knows more anatomy of women can tell so!

Calendar April 2012

Every month I'll publish new page for 2012 calendar. Save it, print it and tape to your wall! ;-)))))
It was so great weather and pipe in good shape. I have so rarely chance to ride halfpipe, I really enjoyed!
Halfpipe in ZolDol is old school size (I mean quite small, in Finnish "nepi nepi"), but right shape and easy to get speed.

Finally winter arrived!

About 2 weeks period minus degrees (C°) and it starts to look winter.
Snowguns are "singing" at slopes day and night.

Short period of daylight and this kind of landscape are getting some people to feel seasonal depressive.)))

Scary yeah, but we have fun at slopes.

We can't tell we have big-air kicker, it's still quite mini-air, but some fun anyway.

Yes I know, I'm little bit late, it's already 4th of January, but...

Our winter in season 2011-12 has been so unprecedented. I mean no snow and no minus degrees.((
So I have to use the last year picture from ZolDol Spring Games.

Why it couldn't be also from January?
We have some sunny days sometimes, but it's not possible to ride in hood like in this picture,
because sunny day in January means at least -20C and you need down jacket for sure!

What's going on? I ordered already snow and minus degrees, delivery times are delayed or what?
I'm still waiting for big air kickers, half pipe etc...
Jibbing is not so lot of my area, so I was more shooting.
